Uzbekistan and Trip.com to Launch Digital Platform to Promote Tourism Potential
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Committee for Tourism Chairman Abdulaziz Akkulov, participated in the ITB Berlin international tourism exhibition and the UN Tourism Ministers Summit.
During the visit to Germany’s capital, strategic meetings were held with international organizations and global business representatives to actively promote Uzbekistan’s tourism potential and increase inbound visitors.
In talks with Azad Guseynova, Vice-Chair of Azerbaijan’s State Tourism Agency, the parties agreed to update a Memorandum of Understanding, including reciprocal FAM tours for industry professionals and visits by popular travel bloggers. Emphasis was placed on developing cross-border tourism routes targeting travelers from Europe and Southeast Asia.
Discussions with Trip.com Group Vice President Edison Chen resulted in plans to launch joint marketing campaigns, including a dedicated online portal for Uzbekistan, with a focus on capturing market share in Southeast Asia.
Business tourism was addressed in talks with ICCA CEO Senthil Gopinath, reaching an agreement to establish a Convention Bureau in Uzbekistan and leverage ICCA analytics to attract global associations. Arda Khiva in Khiva city was highlighted as a new international MICE destination.
Industry workforce development was discussed with Martin Bart from the Swiss Hotel Management School (SHL), focusing on practical training programs and academic partnerships with the UN Tourism Academy in Samarkand.
Implementation of these agreements is expected to strengthen Uzbekistan’s position as a competitive global tourism destination, attract investment, and enhance service quality.
