Uzbekistan and the U.S. Discuss Cooperation in Medicine and Professional Training

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held at the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan with Paolo Zampolli, the U.S. President’s Special Representative for Global Partnerships, and Jonathan Henick, the U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan.

Minister of Health Asilbek Khudayarov welcomed the guests and noted the gradual strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the healthcare sector over recent years.

Paolo Zampolli praised the ongoing healthcare reforms and progress in other sectors in Uzbekistan.

During the discussions, joint projects with U.S. companies were addressed, including pharmaceutical production, management of medical institutions, training and professional development of specialists, and equipping hospitals with modern equipment.

Special attention was given to the development of a program for training mid-level medical personnel according to U.S. standards, with prospects for subsequent employment abroad.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Paolo Zampolli emphasized that Uzbekistan is a reliable strategic partner of the United States in the region and that the U.S. side is ready to implement joint promising projects in healthcare.
