Uzbekistan and the U.S. Discuss Cooperation in Digital Economy and IT
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Sherzod Shermatov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, held a meeting with Paolo Zampolli, Special Representative of the U.S. President for Global Partnerships, who is on an official working visit to Uzbekistan.
At the start of the meeting, the delegation received a presentation on the activities of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, IT Park Uzbekistan, and the Uzbekkosmos agency.
Participants were also briefed on ongoing reforms, future plans, and achieved results in the country. During the visit, the delegation was introduced to Ustudy IT Academy, UZSOC, and the unified integrator UZINFOCOM, all specializing in IT specialist training.
During the main discussions, both sides explored ways to elevate bilateral cooperation. Key areas included the development of data centers, implementation of joint space projects, adoption of artificial intelligence technologies, expansion of digital services exports, and support for the startup ecosystem.
The Minister highlighted Uzbekistan’s efforts to develop the digital economy, increase IT services exports, and create new opportunities for youth. He also presented projects aimed at enhancing the country’s international profile and programs for English language education and professional development.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the high potential for expanding cooperation in digitalization and expressed readiness to take Uzbekistan–U.S. relations to a new level. Paolo Zampolli praised the country’s extensive reforms and confirmed his commitment to participating in joint initiatives in the future.
