Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 29 May 2025, Ismatulla Irgashev, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, held a meeting with Mary Bisshopping, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Afghanistan, Security, and Transnational Threats at the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs of the United States.

The parties discussed current aspects of bilateral cooperation on the Afghan agenda. They emphasized their mutual interest in maintaining a sustainable and constructive dialogue regarding the peaceful resolution of the situation in Afghanistan.

During the conversation, they also exchanged views on key challenges in international and regional security.

Special attention was given to counterterrorism and counter-extremism efforts, as well as prospects for strengthening cooperation in these areas.
