Uzbekistan and the Asian Development Bank discuss deepening cooperation and promoting “green growth”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 16 October, in Washington, on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov met with Yingming Yang, Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The meeting was also attended by Chairman of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan Timur Ishmetov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilkhomjon Umrzakov, ADB representatives, and other senior officials.

The parties discussed expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and the ADB, developing new economic sectors, and ensuring sustainable economic growth.

Special attention was given to enhancing energy efficiency, including the creation of an ESCO market within the framework of the green economy, supporting the Uzbekistan Mortgage Refinancing Company (UzMRC) and expanding its participation in the capital market, promoting the development and digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises, and implementing public–private partnership projects using international best practices.

During the talks, both sides emphasized the importance of “green growth” and innovative solutions in shaping the country’s new economic model. They also discussed advancing joint ADB initiatives aimed at providing technical assistance, expert support, and introducing advanced practices.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further deepen cooperation in sustainable development, the implementation of modern technologies, and the stimulation of private sector growth.
