Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent and Dushanbe have agreed to establish new checkpoints of international importance, the Embassy of Tajikistan in Uzbekistan told to Khovar.
Issues of strengthening customs cooperation between the countries were discussed in Tashkent by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Uzbekistan Abdujabbor Rahmonzoda and First Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Mukhtorov.
The parties agreed to update the operation of the Bekobod checkpoint on the Tajik-Uzbek border. This crossing point is located in the Tajik region of Spitamen, Sughd region of Tajikistan. Through it you can get to the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan. It was noted that there should increase the throughput of receiving traffic.
In addition, the sides expressed interest in expanding cooperation between the relevant structures of the two countries. They presented specific proposals for strengthening the efficient operation of customs services in the transportation of goods and products.
The meeting also raised the issue of speeding up the customs inspection procedure and preventing blocking of vehicles at border checkpoints.
