Uzbekistan and Tajikistan Strengthen Interregional Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Second Interregional Forum between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan was held in Jizzakh Region, with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Suleyman Rizoi Ziyozoda and heads of several sectoral ministries and regional administrations of Tajikistan.
Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev also attended the forum.
The event demonstrated that cooperation between the two countries is advancing to a new practical level through direct dialogue between regions, businesses, and sectoral partners.
A key outcome of the forum was the signing of an Industrial Cooperation Program between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, encompassing more than 130 agreements across eight economic sectors: metallurgy, electrical engineering, agro-processing, construction, and building materials production.
These achievements are particularly significant against the backdrop of rising bilateral trade. In 2025, trade turnover between the countries increased by 30%, reaching US$912 million. The forum confirmed the need to transform this momentum into new joint production facilities, investments, sustainable supply chains, and regional projects.
Interregional cooperation is being shaped as a continuous and systematic mechanism that brings together regions, enterprises, sectoral associations, and specific projects, creating a tangible economic fabric for bilateral partnership.
The forum in Jizzakh highlighted that Uzbekistan–Tajikistan cooperation relies not only on strong political foundations but also on meaningful practical interaction, establishing a platform for sustainable regional economic development.
