Uzbekistan and Tajikistan Strengthen Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation and Dialogue

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the third meeting of the heads of parliaments of Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea, Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbayeva, met with Deputy Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan, Giyozoda Aziz.

In the discussion, both sides emphasized that the trusting relations between the leaders of the two states provide a solid foundation for further strategic partnership.

The conversation covered the outcomes of the third session of parliamentary leaders from Central Asia and South Korea, as well as the significance of the Cooperation Agreement between the upper chambers of the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The effective work of the joint commission and active engagement of delegations in international forums, including the plenary session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in Dushanbe, were highlighted.

Special attention was given to expanding women’s participation in socio-political life, exchanging legislative experience, and strengthening cooperation in trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian, and environmental spheres.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to further deepen inter-parliamentary dialogue and develop interregional cooperation.
