Uzbekistan and Sweden Discuss Cooperation in Migration and Mobility
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Olimjon Abdullaev and the Minister for Migration of the Kingdom of Sweden Johan Forssell.
During the conversation, the Swedish minister gave a positive assessment of the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan and noted the steady progress in Uzbek-Swedish relations, particularly in the context of expanding bilateral cooperation.
The parties held substantive talks on labor migration cooperation, emphasizing the importance of preparing and signing an intergovernmental agreement covering aspects of migration, mobility, and readmission. Special attention was paid to simplifying visa procedures and joint efforts to combat illegal migration.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the partnership and expressed their readiness to implement joint projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing practical cooperation.
