Uzbekistan and Spain Hold Next Round of Political Consultations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 February 2026, the eighth round of interministerial political consultations between Uzbekistan and Spain was held in Madrid.
The delegations were led by Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bobur Usmanov, and Diego Martínez Belio, Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of political-diplomatic and interparliamentary cooperation, discussed ways to enhance engagement in trade, economic, and investment spheres, and explored opportunities to expand cultural and humanitarian ties.
Positive dynamics in bilateral contacts at various levels were noted, along with growth in trade and economic cooperation and successful implementation of joint projects in priority industrial sectors. Particular attention was paid to leveraging existing potential in trade, industrial cooperation, agriculture, tourism, education, and healthcare, as well as issues related to labor migration.
The parties emphasized the importance of planned visits and joint events in 2026, including the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, a business forum, and a series of cultural initiatives.
Following the consultations, Uzbekistan and Spain agreed to continue a close dialogue between their foreign ministries to strengthen practical cooperation across a wide range of bilateral issues.
