Uzbekistan and Spain Affirm Commitment to International Law Amid Middle East Crisis

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov held a strategic telephone consultation today with his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares Bueno, to coordinate diplomatic positions on the escalating conflict in the Middle East and strengthen bilateral economic ties.

The two ministers engaged in a comprehensive exchange regarding the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East. Both parties issued a joint call for de-escalation, emphasizing that a transition to dialogue and strict adherence to the norms of international law are the only viable pathways toward a durable and sustainable peace in the region. The conversation comes as both nations seek to mitigate the impact of regional volatility on global security and trade corridors.

Beyond the immediate geopolitical crisis, the ministers focused on the expansion of the Uzbekistan-Spain partnership. A central highlight of the discussion was the successful convening of the Uzbekistan-Spain Business Forum in Madrid. Both diplomats welcomed the forum's outcomes as a catalyst for deeper integration in priority sectors, including renewable energy, water management, and high-tech agriculture.

Minister Saidov and Minister Albares reaffirmed their mutual intent to maintain a high-level political dialogue and to provide state-level support for joint commercial ventures. The call concluded with an agreement to finalize several pending bilateral agreements aimed at protecting mutual investments and streamlining diplomatic cooperation within the framework of Uzbekistan’s partnership with the European Union.
