Uzbekistan and South Korea Strengthen Cooperation in Healthcare
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The visit of the Uzbek Ministry of Health delegation to South Korea concluded with a series of strategic agreements aimed at developing bilateral cooperation in the medical sector.
The delegation, led by Head of the Department of Science, Education, and Innovation U. Ismailov, visited Bundang Hospital at Seoul National University.
The facility has a capacity of 2,300 beds, provides outpatient care to 8,500 patients daily, and performs 180 surgical operations. The hospital is equipped with four state-of-the-art DaVinci robotic systems, modern laboratories, virtual simulators, a telemedicine center, and 3D training halls.
During the meetings, agreements were reached on joint experience exchange, training of doctors, nurses, and medical engineers, as well as collaboration in robotics, oncology, digital healthcare, telemedicine, and master classes.
The delegation also visited Kyungju University and the nursing training college to discuss opportunities for implementing joint educational programs in Uzbekistan.
Additional meetings were held with Changwon National University, the Asantek research group, Incheon University Hospital, and the Department of Biotechnology and Nanotechnology at Yonsei University.
Special attention was given to SD-biosensor’s rapid diagnostic equipment and early stroke detection technologies presented by the Heuron research team, aiming to reduce mortality and disability rates.
In discussions with the President of the Korean International Healthcare Foundation (KOFIH), topics included advanced training for Uzbek doctors and nurses in leading university hospitals in South Korea, preparing specialists for emergency and pre-hospital care systems, and equipping healthcare facilities with modern technologies.
As a result, it was agreed to provide annual free training for 20 Uzbek specialists according to international standards with the foundation’s support.
The Korean side confirmed its readiness to expand the cooperation program for 2026–2028, ensuring further strengthening of bilateral ties in healthcare.
