Uzbekistan and South Korea Sign Agreement on Seasonal Workers from Andijan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held in South Korea with the participation of Kwon Ik-hyun, head of the Buan County administration in Jeollabuk-do Province, representatives of the Uzbekistan Migration Agency in Korea, and officials from Andijan Region.

As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was signed between Jeollabuk-do Province (Buan County) and Andijan Region to meet the region’s demand for seasonal labor in the agricultural sector.

The agreement was concluded in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea, which stipulate a clear designation of sending and receiving territories under labor migration programs.

The document addresses cooperation in recruiting and managing seasonal workers, preventing cases of illegal residence, and ensuring strict compliance with labor conditions and migration legislation.

The Korean side noted that the agreement strengthens mutual trust between Uzbekistan and South Korea and establishes a legal, transparent, and sustainable system for seasonal employment in agriculture.

The signing received wide coverage in Korean media, which experts say reflects growing confidence in Uzbekistan as a reliable partner in organized labor migration. Leading Korean publications emphasize that a state-managed seasonal employment system reduces administrative burdens on employers while ensuring foreign workers stable and safe working and living conditions.
