Uzbekistan and South Korea intensify cooperation in public asset management

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Representatives of the State Assets Management Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan (AUGA) and the Korean Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) discussed the development of cooperation in managing state assets during a video conference.

The online meeting was also attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The South Korean side expressed its readiness to exchange experience and knowledge in the field of privatization, efficient use of public facilities, their management and implementation.

KAMCO’s Deputy Head of Foreign Projects and Cooperation, Wu John Chol, invited to organize advanced training programs for AUGA staff in the Republic of Korea as the situation around the coronavirus softens.

In his opinion, these courses will allow to get acquainted with the experience of such major South Korean companies as POSCO and KT&G in the field of improving corporate governance, processes of their entry into the capital market and activities on the stock exchange, as well as restructuring and financial recovery.

At the same time, Wu John Chol said that KAMCO was involved in the redistribution and management of debts of the former Daewoo corporation. During the upcoming visit to South Korea, AUGA specialists will have the opportunity to become more familiar with this process. He noted that the effective use of the experience of South Korea will accelerate the process of introducing an advanced system of managing public facilities.
