Uzbekistan and South Korea discuss prospects for the development of multifaceted cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12 October 2021, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fozilov held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea for multilateral relations and global issues Ham Sang-wook. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

During the conversation, the current state and prospects for the development of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, certain aspects of interaction between the parties within the UN and other international structures were discussed.

It was noted that the Uzbek-South Korean relations, thanks to the personal contacts of the leaders of the two countries, acquired the character of a special strategic partnership and are based on the principles of friendship, mutual respect and trust.

Mutual interest was expressed in strengthening trade, economic and investment ties, including through the conclusion of a bilateral Free Trade Agreement.

An exchange of views took place on the implementation of projects jointly with the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in the socio-economic sphere in Uzbekistan, in particular, on improving the ecosystem in the Aral Sea region.

During the talks, the sides considered a schedule of upcoming joint events at various levels and formats, as well as a number of issues of an international and regional nature.
