Uzbekistan and South Korea Discuss Localization of Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals Production

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the Uzbekistan Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry held a series of meetings in the Republic of Korea with leading medical industry companies to expand cooperation and localize the production of high-tech medical devices and pharmaceuticals.

During the visit, the agency’s representatives met with Sungsim Eng, a company specializing in the production of hospital and rehabilitation beds. The company’s production is 90% localized in Korea, with annual output exceeding 5,000 units. Discussions focused on the potential for joint production and localization of medical beds in Uzbekistan, which would provide domestic healthcare facilities with modern equipment.

On 10 December, the delegation visited Unimed Pharmaceutical Inc, a manufacturer of eye drops, dietary supplements, placental-based products, and injectable medications. The company’s director, Mr. Kim, provided a detailed overview of production capacities and confirmed readiness to begin construction of a plant for the production of next-generation high-tech pharmaceuticals within the Tashkent Pharma Park pharmaceutical cluster.

Plans also include the production of placental-based medicines and products containing bee venom.

Both sides expressed confidence that the development of joint projects and the localization of production in Uzbekistan will contribute to improving the quality of medical services and strengthening the country’s pharmaceutical industry.
