Uzbekistan and Smithsonian Institution to Launch Joint Cultural and Archaeological Projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Washington, Gayane Umerova, Chair of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, met with Lonnie G. Bunch III, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution.

During the talks, both sides discussed prospects for expanding cooperation and strengthening institutional dialogue between Uzbekistan and the Smithsonian.

An agreement was reached to collaborate on exhibition initiatives showcasing Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage, as well as projects in contemporary art, scientific research, and archaeological programs, including work with museum collections.

The parties also plan to promote academic and professional exchanges, alongside educational programs aimed at engaging youth.
