Uzbekistan and Serbia Sign Memorandum on Labor Migration Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the official visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to Uzbekistan at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, high-level talks were held, resulting in the signing of several bilateral documents.

A key agreement was the Memorandum of Understanding on labor migration between the Agency for Migration under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans’ Affairs and Social Policy of the Republic of Serbia.

The memorandum aims to establish legal and institutional frameworks for the organized recruitment and protection of migrant workers, prevent illegal employment, and strengthen cooperation between the competent authorities of both countries.

Under the agreement, the parties will conduct joint monitoring of labor migration legislation, exchange relevant information and practical experience, and organize consultations and professional meetings among experts.

A separate provision provides for the development of a technical protocol detailing the procedures for employing Uzbek citizens in Serbia, including mechanisms for selection, training, and social protection of workers.

The signing of the memorandum opens new opportunities to expand legal labor routes and deepen economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Serbia, creating conditions for a safer and more transparent migration policy.
