Uzbekistan and Serbia agree to strengthen cooperation in migration
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Olimjon Abdullaev and including representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, visited Serbia, according to the Dunyo news agency.
During the visit, the Uzbek delegation held talks with Serbian officials, including Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans, and Social Affairs Nemanja Starović, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nikola Stojanović, and State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vladan Zagrađanin. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in external labor migration, easing visa requirements, and protecting the rights of Uzbek citizens working in Serbia.
Both sides agreed to draft and sign an intergovernmental agreement regulating cooperation in migration and mobility. Additionally, they expressed mutual interest in holding further consultations between their respective consular and legal departments.
Special attention was also given to strengthening the legal framework for economic cooperation, particularly in boosting mutual investments. The visit highlights Tashkent’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Belgrade and fostering a comprehensive partnership in areas of mutual interest.
