Uzbekistan and Sasol Discuss Expansion of Gas-Chem Projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 15 March, the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, met with Dr. Sarushen Pillay, Executive Vice President of South African company Sasol Limited, in the capital.

The parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the gas-chemical and coal-chemical industries. The dialogue continued from February’s discussions in Cape Town, confirming mutual interest in joint projects focused on deep processing of coal and natural gas to produce high-value products.

Special attention was given to Sasol’s potential participation in the Coal-to-Olefins (CTO) project. The discussions also addressed technological cooperation within the Uzbekistan GTL complex, including participation in capacity expansion and implementation of advanced processing technologies.

Founded in 1950, Sasol Limited is a South African energy and chemical company with approximately 28,100 employees, total assets of around $22 billion, and revenue of US$16.6 billion in 2024. The company operates in 22 countries, including South Africa, Mozambique, the United States, Germany, Italy, and Slovakia.
