Uzbekistan and Russia Strengthen Strategic Partnership Through Interparliamentary Dialogue

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Sodik Safoev, met with Andrey Shevchenko, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Self-Government, and Northern Affairs of the Russian Federation.

During the discussions, both sides emphasized that the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia continues to steadily strengthen, supported by regular dialogue between the heads of state.

It was noted that the intensification of interregional ties adds practical substance to bilateral relations and contributes to expanding cooperation across various sectors. Special attention was paid to interparliamentary dialogue.

This year, the tenth session of the Cooperation Commission between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the Federation Council of Russia was held in Kazan, resulting in significant agreements in the fields of education, digitalization, protection of labor migrants’ rights, tourism, air transportation, and youth policy.

The parties also highly appreciated the development of cultural and humanitarian ties. Notable initiatives included the organization of “Uzbekistan Culture Days” in Moscow in 2024, large-scale events commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II, and increased tourist exchanges, serving as tangible proof of deepening cultural relations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue strengthening strategic partnership and interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
