Uzbekistan and Russia Strengthen Interregional Business Partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A Moscow–Tashkent video conference was held at the Sputnik multimedia press center on the theme “Russia – Uzbekistan: Paths to Expanding and Developing Business Partnership,” during which experts reviewed the outcomes of the second meeting of the Council of Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan, held on 21–22 October in Moscow region.

Participants focused on the development of e-commerce, attracting investment to the industrial sector, expanding transport and logistics cooperation, and collaboration in the agro-industrial complex.

Alexey Mikhailov, Director of the Department for Economic Cooperation with CIS Countries at the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, noted that the Council of Regions had produced concrete agreements on the implementation of joint projects.

“We are actively working on launching a railcar manufacturing cluster with elements of localization in Uzbekistan. Financing is being planned for the construction of a copper-enrichment plant, and capacities are being expanded for the production of soft drinks, cosmetics, and household chemicals,” he emphasized.

According to Mikhailov, a joint investment platform is already operational, and by the end of the year, a list of priority projects and the scope of their financing will be approved.

Dilshod Rasulov, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, stated that the Russian Federation remains one of Uzbekistan’s key trade and investment partners.

“Entrepreneurs from both countries are showing rapidly growing interest in joint projects—not only in export-import operations but also in industrial production and investment cooperation,” he said.

Rasulov added that over the course of the year, the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry organizes monthly business forums and meetings with delegations from Russian regions, including Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Tatarstan, Altai Krai, and the Astrakhan, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Samara, and Chelyabinsk regions.

Ervin Turgunov, Head of the Department for Attracting Investments from Russia and CIS Countries at the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, reported that interregional cooperation between the two countries has grown by more than 50%.

“If at the previous Council of Regions meeting in May 2024 in Tashkent, agreements and contracts totaling $4.3 billion were signed, this year the figure has exceeded $6 billion,” he noted.

Ongoing initiatives include the construction of greenhouse complexes in Tashkent and Jizzakh regions, the implementation of fire suppression systems, and the opening of dealer centers for mini-loader sales in Bukhara and Navoi.

It is emphasized that the Russian-Uzbek partnership continues to develop dynamically, covering a wide range of sectors—from mechanical engineering and industry to agriculture and logistics.
