Uzbekistan and Russia Sign Memorandum on Cooperation in Physical Culture and Sports
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the events of the 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia in Uzbekistan, Mikhail Degtyaryov, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, is visiting the country on an official trip.
Today, a working meeting was held at the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan with members of the Russian delegation. The event was attended by Adkham Ikramov, Minister of Sports of Uzbekistan, Oybek Kasimov, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, and representatives of relevant agencies from both countries.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed cooperation in physical culture and sports for 2025 and discussed promising areas of interaction for 2026. The Russian guests were shown a video highlighting the facilities of the Olympic Village, developed at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as a report on the sports tests conducted and the achievements of Uzbek athletes in physical training.
Following the negotiations, a Memorandum on Cooperation in Physical Culture and Sports was signed, and a plan of joint activities for 2026–2027 was approved. The documents outline the development of collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the sports sector.
In his remarks, Minister Degtyaryov highlighted the successes of Uzbek athletes at major international competitions and praised the capabilities of the modern Olympic Village created in Uzbekistan under the President’s initiative.
