Uzbekistan and Russia hold a meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 October, as part of the 54th plenary session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the 7th meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held.

During the meeting, the prospects for further development and deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan following the results of bilateral visits at the highest level were discussed.

In particular, speaking from the Uzbek side, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, co-chairman from the Uzbek part of the Commission, Sadyk Safoev, noted that it is necessary to strengthen and expand interregional economic ties between Uzbekistan and Russia, as well as separate practical study requires issues of labor migration, since it is precisely in this direction, by improving legislation, it is necessary to ensure reliable protection of the rights of labor migrants.

In turn, speaking from the Russian side, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Science, Education and Culture, co-chairman from the Russian part of the Commission, Ilyas Umakhanov, noted that this year was marked by an important anniversary - the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Uzbekistan. Bilateral relations are much more than 30 years old, because the peoples of Uzbekistan and Russia are connected by centuries-old friendship, common history, joint achievements and victories.

During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation in the fields of higher education and science, tourism, as well as the state and current tasks for expanding interregional cooperation in the context of the implementation of joint investment projects of Russia and Uzbekistan were discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reached an agreement to hold the eighth meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
