Uzbekistan and Pakistan explore textile industry cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 26 May, a delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Uztekstilprom Association paid a working visit to Karachi, Pakistan, where they met with the leadership of one of the country’s leading textile companies — Zaman Textile Mills Ltd.
The facility, which employs around 6,000 people, operates a full production cycle — from raw material processing to finished goods, including fabric weaving and dyeing.
The Uzbek delegation toured the factory and familiarized themselves with its production processes and technological capabilities.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed establishing mutually beneficial cooperation. Zaman Textile Mills Ltd. expressed interest in launching investment projects in Uzbekistan focused on the production of home textiles.
Pakistani entrepreneurs showed a strong willingness to localize production facilities in Uzbekistan and actively engage in the domestic market.
The visit also featured a presentation on Uzbekistan’s investment climate in the textile sector, highlighting tax and customs incentives, access to regional markets, a skilled labor force, and modern infrastructure within industrial zones.
This visit marked an important step in strengthening sectoral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, paving the way for expanded direct industrial ties in the light industry and increased investment flows.
