Uzbekistan and Pakistan Discuss Expansion of Industrial, Investment, and Logistics Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 14–15 January, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Shokhrukh Gulamov, led an Uzbek delegation on a working visit to Pakistan to explore prospects for expanding industrial, investment, and logistics cooperation between the two countries.

On the first day of the visit, a closed-door meeting was held with Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Industrial Affairs. This was followed by an expanded session at the Ministry of Industries and Production, attended by representatives from approximately ten relevant government agencies. The delegation also met with heads of industry associations in the leather sector and executives from leading pharmaceutical and industrial companies.

A key focus of the discussions was logistics. The delegation met with Shoghaib Ahmad Khan, CEO of Pakistan’s National Logistics Company (NLC), to explore opportunities for developing international transport and expanding cooperation along the Pakistan–China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan corridor via the Khunjerab Pass.

On the second day, the delegation visited the port of Karachi, where they examined opportunities for leveraging port infrastructure to expand transit routes and facilitate access for Uzbek products to international markets.

Following the visit, both sides agreed to continue consultations and move toward concrete planning of joint initiatives aimed at strengthening industrial, investment, and logistics cooperation.
