Uzbekistan and Pakistan Discuss Expansion of Agricultural Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jamshidjon Abduzukhurov, is currently on an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
As part of the visit, a high-level meeting was held at the office of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to strengthen economic ties between the two countries, with a particular focus on expanding cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The negotiations involved Pakistan’s Secretary of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) Sajid Mehmood Qazi, Deputy Minister of National Food Security and Agriculture Musaddiq Ahmed Khan, Coordinator for Agriculture at the Prime Minister’s Office Ahmad Umar, as well as the Uzbek delegation and business representatives.
During the talks, the parties discussed expanding mutual investments, prospects for joint projects in agriculture and agribusiness, and a draft cooperation agreement between the ministries of agriculture of the two countries.
The Pakistani side presented the third phase of the national “Green Pakistan” initiative, highlighting its main goals, priority areas, and opportunities for practical collaboration with Uzbekistan.
The meeting was recognized as an important practical step toward institutionalizing agricultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, increasing mutual investment, and implementing promising joint projects.
