Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 10 September 2020, within the framework of the visit of the government delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Islamabad, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with the commander of the ground forces of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Kamar Javed Bajwa.
During the meeting, the parties stressed the high level of strategic partnership between the two countries and expressed their readiness for further interaction to strengthen cooperation in order to ensure security and stability in the region.
Opportunities for enhancing investment cooperation were considered and further steps were discussed to form firm agreements on the implementation of projects in promising industries.
Practical cooperation in the transport and communication sphere was identified as one of the priority directions, meaning the implementation of joint projects aimed at the development of transport corridors connecting Uzbekistan and Pakistan. It was noted that effective joint work in this area will become a key factor that has a positive effect on the further increase in the volume of cargo transportation and mutual trade.
A separate agreement was reached on the further expansion of Uzbek-Pakistani cooperation on countering the coronavirus pandemic and ensuring public health.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to expand the dialogue within the designated areas and agreed on a format for further practical interaction.
