Uzbekistan and Pakistan agree to strengthen cooperation in public procurement
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 20 October 2025, an online dialogue was held between Hasnat Khurshid Qureshi, Head of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and Sarvar Nazarov, Director of the Public Procurement Policy Department at Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The talks followed up on agreements reached during the official visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Uzbekistan and focused on exploring opportunities for mutual participation in public procurement and identifying promising areas for cooperation.
The parties exchanged detailed information on their respective public procurement systems, the current state of the sector, and future development plans.
Key areas of collaboration were identified, including improving legislative and regulatory frameworks, introducing electronic platforms, training qualified personnel, and exchanging expertise to enhance professional competencies.
At the initial stage, both sides proposed the establishment of a joint working group composed of representatives from both countries to develop concrete measures for implementing agreed cooperation directions.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain regular dialogue, ensure continuous exchange of experience, and promote capacity building among specialists in the field of public procurement.
