Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is hosting an international agricultural symposium with the participation of a delegation from the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The event is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, the Embassy of the Netherlands, and the Tashkent State Agrarian University.

The symposium, held during the Dutch delegation’s visit, focuses on priority areas of the agricultural sector, including greenhouse farming, the introduction of advanced agritech solutions, water-saving technologies, and modern production systems.

As part of the program, B2B meetings were also organized, enabling direct dialogue between business representatives and experts from both countries.

An additional element of the visit included an introduction to Uzbek agricultural products. The delegation visited one of the capital’s largest markets, the Alay market, where they were presented with locally produced goods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, traditional pastries, honey, sumalak, dried fruits, and nuts.

The guests were also shown traditional handicrafts, including handmade knives. During a tasting session, participants highly praised the quality and natural taste of the products, particularly noting tomatoes and lemons.

As part of the cultural program, the delegation visited the Center for Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan. Guests were introduced to exhibitions, rare manuscripts, and modern interactive installations aimed at promoting the region’s historical and scientific heritage.

Delegation members highlighted the high architectural standards of the center and its role in fostering cultural dialogue and intercivilizational understanding.

The Dutch delegation also became acquainted with the works of artist Ronald Kleijer, who creates portraits of people in Uzbekistan. The artworks were praised for reflecting the country’s cultural and social diversity and the artist’s deep integration into the local artistic environment.

At the Seed Development Center, a separate meeting was held with experts from the Netherlands and representatives of Naktuinbouw.

The parties discussed the development of seed production, the system for protecting new plant varieties, and prospects for creating hybrid vegetable and melon crops.

The Dutch experience presented, including UPOV-based approaches, was highlighted as a foundation for further cooperation.
