Uzbekistan and Mongolia discuss promising areas for deepening bilateral ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The fifth round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Mongolia took place in Tashkent on 10 April  2019.

The delegations headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Batmunkh Battsetseg thoroughly analyzed the current state and perspective directions of deepening bilateral relations in the political, trade-economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other fields.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the parties stated that there is a significant potential for the dynamic development of relations between state structures and business circles of the two countries, noted the relevance of taking practical measures for the further development of multidimensional ties.

During the conversation, mutual interest was expressed in the organization of business forums and cooperation exchanges, as well as the creation of a Business Council with the participation of chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries and other cooperation mechanisms.

The parties also discussed the development of relations in the field of tourism. It was emphasized that the introduction of a visa-free regime by Uzbekistan for 30 days for citizens of Mongolia creates favorable opportunities for them to visit Buddhist shrines and other historical monuments in Uzbekistan. In this context, the Mongolian side proposed to explore the possibility of establishing direct flights between Ulan Bator and Tashkent, which will also make it possible to intensify contacts at various levels and expand exchanges between scientists, culture and sports.

The meeting also discussed issues of cooperation between the two countries in the framework of international organizations, primarily in the UN and the SCO.

The consultation was attended by the Ambassador of Mongolia Luvsan Battulga.
