Uzbekistan and Mongolia Discuss Joint Geological Exploration on Uranium Sites

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the state enterprise Navoiyuran, together with UZBEK OVERSEAS GEOLOGY COMPANY LLC, is on a working visit to Mongolia, where they held talks with representatives of the state company Mon Atom.

The discussions focused on conducting geological exploration on prospective uranium sites in Mongolia in 2026.

In preparation for an Intergovernmental Meeting scheduled for April 2026, a strategic agreement is expected to be signed between the Ministries of Geology of Uzbekistan and Mongolia, along with the respective organizations.

Under the agreements reached, UZBEK OVERSEAS GEOLOGY COMPANY and Mon Atom will conclude a service contract covering the development of geological and environmental project documentation for the prospective uranium sites, as well as preparation of materials required to obtain licenses from the authorized Mongolian authorities.

After the necessary licenses are obtained, negotiations will be held with drilling and geophysical companies in Mongolia to carry out the geological exploration work.

According to preliminary project documents, the first stage will involve approximately 60,000 meters of comprehensive drilling on the allocated sites. Based on the assessment of potential reserves, the program for the next stage of exploration will be determined.
