Uzbekistan and MIMOS Discuss Semiconductor Industry Development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 April 2026, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Jamshid Kuchkarov, held a working meeting with Razman Jaafar, CEO of the Malaysian research and innovation company MIMOS Holding Sdn Bhd.

The meeting included MIMOS Vice President Ramesh Kumar Nadaraja, Investment Director Azima Bintu Abdul Qadir, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilhomjon Umrzakov, Chairman of the Association “UzElTechSanoat” Mirziyod Yunusov, and other officials.

During discussions, both sides addressed the expansion of cooperation, strengthening existing ties, and implementing promising joint projects.

Special focus was placed on developing Uzbekistan’s electronics, electrical engineering, and semiconductor industries, introducing advanced technologies, building an innovation ecosystem, and training highly qualified specialists.

Measures were agreed upon to enhance workforce development through integrated training, specialized programs, and IC design (microchip development) courses aimed at creating a national pool of experts.

MIMOS representatives expressed strong interest in deepening collaboration with Uzbekistan, highlighting the potential of the semiconductor sector and opportunities to adopt modern technologies.

Both sides agreed to continue systematic work to develop mutually beneficial cooperation, exchange expertise, and achieve shared goals in high-tech industries.
