Uzbekistan and Maizuru Discuss Regional Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Ambassador Muhsinhodzha Abdurakhmonov, visited Maizuru in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, for a working trip, reports IA “Dunyo.”
During the visit, meetings were held with Mayor Akitsu Kamoda, City Council Chairman Ryuji Kimotsuki, and representatives of local educational institutions. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation between regions of Uzbekistan and Japan, developing educational and human resource programs, and strengthening trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian exchanges.
Both sides emphasized their readiness to develop existing ties and implement mutually beneficial projects. The Uzbek ambassador addressed the Maizuru City Council, proposing closer cooperation between Rishtan and Maizuru, including the establishment of official sister-city relations.
The initiative was warmly received by the city administration and council members, who expressed interest in further developing such collaboration. Following the visit, both sides agreed to continue practical work to strengthen friendly regional ties, expand interpersonal contacts, and advance steps toward establishing formal sister-city relations.
