Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An Uzbek-Latvian meeting of high-level experts in the format of video communication was held, Dunyo news agency reported.
The delegation of Uzbekistan was headed by the Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Badriddin Abidov, the Latvian - by the acting State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy Zaiga Liepina.
The parties discussed issues of Uzbek-Latvian trade, investment and economic relations, interaction in the field of transport and logistics, education, digitalization, external labor migration. A “synchronization of clocks” was carried out on specific items on the agenda of cooperation in all of the above areas.
During the event, the parties highly appreciated the achieved level of trust and cooperation. The Uzbek side noted that Latvia is one of the five largest trade partners of Uzbekistan among the member states of the European Union.
At the same time, the significant potential for further building up comprehensive partnership between the countries was emphasized. Appreciation was expressed for Latvia’s traditional support for Tashkent’s aspirations to develop comprehensive ties with the European Union.
In turn, Zaiga Liepina positively assessed the reforms being carried out in our country, confirming the readiness to support them.
In order to fill the agenda with practical content and increase the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation, an agreement was reached to intensify work in all key areas of interaction in order to reach concrete results by the upcoming IGC meeting in early 2021.
