"Previously, only citizens of Uzbekistan had access to the Kempir-Abad dam. Now there will be joint management: four people each from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. For 70 years, the decision on the use of water was made by Uzbekistan independently. Now the citizens of Kyrgyzstan will have free access to water: water, drink livestock, they will even be able to fish and pump water with a pump. Uzbekistan will not be able to install engineering structures," Tashiev said.
In total, Uzbekistan received 4,485 ha and Kyrgyzstan – 19,699 ha.
“I can’t say that we are winners, but we didn’t give up a single meter. On the contrary, we received additional areas on which there were questions. Some say that we received bad land, but in fact it is very good, fertile land. There is even gold. Uzbekistan once issued six licenses. Despite this, we received these lands," the head of the State Committee for National Security said.
After the ratification of the agreement, the map of Kyrgyzstan will increase by 15,806 hectares.
