Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Discuss Expanding Energy Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Taalaybek Ibraev. At the start of the meeting, the minister conveyed sincere greetings from the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov.
During the talks, both sides discussed further strengthening Uzbek-Kyrgyz relations of friendship, good-neighborliness, and strategic partnership, including cooperation in the energy sector.
They noted with satisfaction the high dynamics of bilateral interaction: since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has increased by 17%, freight volumes are growing, and joint projects are being implemented in priority sectors of the economy.
Special attention was given to mutually beneficial energy cooperation. Stable electricity supplies and transit continue, and promising initiatives in green energy are being developed.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in hydropower and effectively advancing joint regional-scale projects, particularly the Kambarata-1 hydropower plant.
