Uzbekistan and KOICA Discuss Creation of High-Tech Park for Microelectronics
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 7 July 2025, a significant meeting took place between Mirziyod Yunusov, Chairman of the “UzEltechSanoat” Association, and Mr. Shin Myong Sop, Director of the Uzbekistan office of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
The central focus of the talks was the development of mechanisms for establishing a modern industrial infrastructure in Uzbekistan dedicated to semiconductors and microelectronics. Special emphasis was placed on the initiative to create a specialized High-Tech Park, envisioned as a nucleus for industry growth and innovation.
The parties also discussed the possibility of attracting KOICA grant funding to support this initiative. These funds are expected to facilitate technology transfer, the engagement of South Korean experts, and the promotion of research projects and startups in related sectors.
Particular attention was paid to the development of next-generation microchip production, sensor technologies, and other advanced electronic components. Both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further expanding strategic cooperation aimed at accelerating industrialization and boosting the export potential of Uzbekistan’s electrical engineering sector.
