Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan Discuss Water Resource Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 12 March 2026, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, Beibut Atamkulov, met with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Water Resources, Shavkat Khamraev, to discuss key aspects of bilateral cooperation in water resource management.
The discussions focused on preparations for the upcoming Regional Environmental Summit and the session of the founding heads of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea. The officials exchanged views on the current state and future development of regional cooperation among Central Asian countries in the context of growing water scarcity.
Special attention was given to enhancing coordination efforts in sustainable water management and regional ecological security.
Additionally, the participants discussed Uzbekistan’s upcoming chairmanship of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and explored potential areas for strengthening joint initiatives within the framework of the organization’s activities.
