Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan agree to expand cooperation in combating terrorism and crime

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The seventh round of consultations between the Secretariat of the Security Council under the President of Uzbekistan and the Office of the Security Council of Kazakhstan took place in Tashkent. The talks were led by Viktor Makhmudov, Secretary of the Security Council under the President of Uzbekistan, and his Kazakh counterpart, Gizat Nurdauletov.

The discussions were attended by senior officials and representatives of relevant agencies from both countries, including the ministries of internal affairs, defense, emergency situations, security services, and religious affairs committees.

The key topics of the meeting included cooperation in countering international terrorism and religious extremism, ensuring public order, and combating transnational organized crime. Special attention was given to strengthening military and military-technical collaboration, as well as mechanisms for rapid response to emergencies.

Both sides emphasized that the dynamic development of Uzbek-Kazakh relations across all key areas of strategic partnership and alliance is largely due to the regular and constructive dialogue between Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. During the consultations, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding cooperation in security, improving the legal framework, and enhancing interagency collaboration.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a Consultation Protocol was signed, outlining specific measures to deepen bilateral security cooperation and implement joint initiatives.
