Uzbekistan and JBIC Discuss Expanding Investment Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held at the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan between Deputy Minister Ilzat Kasymov and Hiroki Sekine, Head of the Global Infrastructure and Environmental Projects Finance Group at the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of the partnership between Uzbekistan and JBIC, as well as opportunities to expand investment and financial cooperation in the country’s priority economic sectors.

It was noted that JBIC is a reliable strategic partner for Uzbekistan in implementing the “New Uzbekistan” programs. Since 1995, the bank has financed projects totaling over $3.7 billion, covering the petrochemical, energy, infrastructure, telecommunications, and textile sectors.

Special attention was given to prospects for cooperation in developing IT infrastructure, modernizing air navigation systems, supplying ambulances, constructing multidisciplinary medical centers, and opening credit lines for the country’s commercial banks.
