Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Akbar Tashkulov, and the Minister of Justice of Japan, Keisuke Suzuki, held a bilateral meeting to discuss promising areas of cooperation in the fields of law and justice, as well as new joint initiatives planned for implementation.

Minister Tashkulov shared with his Japanese counterparts insights into the work of legal professionals and scholars from both countries, mutual visits conducted, and recent reforms being carried out by their respective ministries. He also highlighted Uzbekistan’s achievements in legal transformation.

Japan’s Minister of Justice commended Uzbekistan’s efforts to strengthen the rule of law and noted that the country’s development strategy through 2030 already outlines clear mechanisms for further advancement in this area.

Mr. Suzuki proposed enhancing cooperation between the ministries and launching new initiatives aimed at fostering a “justice dialogue” between the two nations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Akbar Tashkulov announced that a large Japanese delegation is expected to attend the international legal forum “Tashkent Law Spring,” scheduled for 29–30 May. He emphasized that Japan’s Ministry of Justice is a reliable and long-term partner of Uzbekistan in promoting free and open international cooperation based on the principles of the rule of law.

Following the official meeting, members of the Japanese delegation visited the Center for Japanese Law Studies at Tashkent State University of Law, where they met with students and discussed topics related to Japanese legal education and practice.
