Uzbekistan and Japan Strengthen Agricultural Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Alisher Shukurov held a meeting with a Japanese delegation led by Yoshitsugu Minogawa, Chairman of the Working Group on Agriculture and Regional Development under the Japan Uzbekistan Silk Road Fund (JUSRF).

The talks focused on taking bilateral cooperation to a new level, introducing advanced Japanese agricultural practices in Uzbekistan, and implementing investment projects in the sector.

The parties agreed to expand collaboration through modernization of agricultural industries, development of the processing sector, and the adoption of innovative technologies.

In particular, the proposal was made to develop sericulture in Ferghana region under a public-private partnership model, as well as to introduce Japanese technologies in tea cultivation, logistics, and smart agriculture.

The meeting also addressed human capital development, including training, professional development, and experience exchange in the Japanese language and agricultural technologies at the Tashkent State Agrarian University.

At the conclusion, Alisher Shukurov reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s full commitment to supporting the agreed projects and described the meeting as the beginning of a new phase of cooperation, combining technology, education, and innovation in Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector.
