Uzbekistan and Japan: Interparliamentary cooperation reaches a new level
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of a visit by the parliamentary delegation led by Nurdinjon Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, a forum titled “Uzbekistan–Japan” on interparliamentary cooperation was held in Japan.
At the forum, representatives from both sides delivered speeches on the current state and prospects of interparliamentary relations.
In his address, Speaker Nurdinjon Ismoilov informed participants about the formation of a new socio-political environment in Uzbekistan based on the updated Constitution. He spoke about the democratic reforms being implemented under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, transformations in the economy, social protection system, and other sectors, as well as the legal framework underpinning these changes.
The Japanese side, in turn, highlighted the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan based on the new version of the Constitution and the positive developments in parliamentary activities.
Japanese lawmakers emphasized that under President Mirziyoyev’s leadership, Uzbekistan is systematically pursuing democratic transformations, taking effective measures to strengthen the economy, and implementing large-scale positive changes in social spheres such as education and healthcare.
Additionally, Japanese representatives put forward several proposals to deepen cooperation in the fields of information technology, entrepreneurship, and artificial intelligence. It was noted that these initiatives would become important factors in implementing agreements reached at the highest level and would give new substantive content to bilateral cooperation.
The forum also discussed prospects for developing interparliamentary ties, enriching them with new substance, and exchanging experience in legislative work.
At the conclusion of the event, the tasks facing the parliaments of both countries in fulfilling the agreements reached at the highest level were reviewed, and priority areas for further cooperation were identified.
