Uzbekistan and Japan implement a project to preserve cultural heritage

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 November, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted the signing ceremony of Exchange Notes and the Grant Agreement with the Government of Japan on the project "Preservation and digitization of the archives of the cultural heritage of the Great Silk Road in the Republic of Uzbekistan" at amount of about US$400,000.

Speaking with a welcoming speech, the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev emphasized the importance of preserving the cultural heritage of the Great Silk Road, which has been linking the peoples and cultures of Japan and Uzbekistan since ancient times. The ongoing project is designed to contribute to the preservation of unique cultural values found along the route of the Silk Road, to increase the efficiency of their protection and protection, to make a great contribution to the development of the culture of Uzbekistan, and also to become a symbol of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

The project, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, envisages the introduction of Japanese technologies and experience in Uzbekistan to preserve objects and objects of cultural heritage.

In particular, the Cultural Heritage Agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, the State Museum of the History of Uzbekistan and the Termez Archaeological Museum will receive equipment to protect collections and exhibits, as well as the necessary equipment for digital archiving, including 3D scanners, 360-degree cameras and other equipment.
