Uzbekistan and Japan Elevate Digital Cooperation to a New Level
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan led by Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies Rustam Karimjonov held a series of meetings in Tokyo aimed at expanding cooperation in the fields of IT, artificial intelligence, and innovative education.
As part of the visit, a meeting took place with Japan’s Vice Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications, Imagawa Takuo.
The parties discussed prospects for joint work in digital technology, presented the “One Million Artificial Intelligence Leaders” project, and agreed to develop a strategy for applying AI in the education sector. The Japanese side expressed its readiness to share experience, test innovative ideas, and subsequently scale up joint initiatives.
The delegation also met with Japan’s Deputy Minister for International Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Matsua Takehiko.
Discussions focused on training competitive IT professionals for the Japanese market, implementing joint educational programs, and advancing IT outsourcing.
Within the framework of the “Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Program,” the two sides reached an agreement to launch new initiatives in digital and IT education.
The delegation also held talks with executives from Japanese companies FPT Consulting Japan, Daiwa House, and Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance. The meetings covered the training of digital specialists, the expansion of remote service capabilities (BPO), and the prospects for exporting digital services. Daiwa House explored the possibility of transferring digital production processes to Uzbekistan, while Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance presented the results of a pilot project analyzing traffic flows.
Following the visit, both sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation, expand the export of IT services, and implement new innovative projects.
