Uzbekistan and Japan Discuss Expansion of Strategic Partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Japan, Mukhsinhuzha Abdurakhmonov, held talks with Japan’s new State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ayano Kunimitsu, according to Dunyo news agency.

The parties discussed key issues on the bilateral agenda and identified promising directions for further cooperation.

Kunimitsu emphasized that Tokyo regards Uzbekistan as an important strategic partner, noting the high level of trust underpinning relations between the two countries. She highlighted that cooperation is steadily expanding across political-parliamentary, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian, and tourism sectors.

During the meeting, it was noted that the Japanese Foreign Minister’s visit to Uzbekistan in August this year, as well as the first-ever strategic dialogue between the foreign ministries, marked an important step in deepening bilateral ties and gave additional momentum to high-level contacts.

Following the talks, both sides agreed to maintain regular dialogue aimed at comprehensive development of Uzbek-Japanese cooperation and strengthening the partnership for the long term.
