Uzbekistan and Japan agree to further cooperation in transport and logistics
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jasurbek Choriyev held talks with a Japanese delegation led by Yoshimichi Terada, Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the negotiations focused on the development of transport infrastructure and the expansion of bilateral cooperation.
Particular attention was paid to projects aimed at linking the territories of New Tashkent and the city of Tashkent with the new international airport through railway routes, as well as underground and elevated metro lines.
The sides also exchanged views on prospects for modernizing the Tashkent–Samarkand high-speed railway, optimizing infrastructure to separate passenger and freight transport, and implementing investment projects in the transport sector.
Following the meeting, the participants reaffirmed their readiness to further develop cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan in the field of transport and logistics, implement joint projects, and strengthen mutually beneficial ties.
