Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Behzod Yuldashev visited Israel and held a series of meetings and negotiations, Dunyo news agency reported.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the visit was organized at the invitation of the head of the Israeli Academy of Sciences and Humanities, Professor David Harel, and was held at this level for the first time in 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During the trip, Behzod Yuldashev held talks with the leadership of the Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology of Israel, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv University, as well as together with specialists and professors from leading universities and research laboratories in the country, in particular the Weizmann Institute, Department nuclear medicine clinic "Sheba", took part in the "round table".
At meetings with Israeli partners, the modern research potential of Uzbekistan, ongoing work with international organizations and foreign countries were presented. Agriculture and water management, medicine, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, ecology and others were identified as priority areas of the dialogue. Israeli experts emphasized their interest in developing cooperation in the fields of the humanities and natural sciences, including such areas as archeology, Islamic studies (the study of manuscripts), and biotechnology.
In order to advance the bilateral agenda and identify specific joint research projects, the parties reached a number of agreements, including the study of conducting joint scientific research, organizing joint seminars and conferences.
In March last year, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the academies of sciences of the two countries.
