Uzbekistan and Iran Discuss Expanding Cooperation in Agriculture

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Uzbekistan, Mohammadali Iskandari.

During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for further expanding agricultural cooperation and enriching existing ties with new joint projects. Special attention was given to collaboration in areas such as drone delivery, nursery management, livestock breeding, seed production, aquaculture, and plant selection.

The discussion also covered studying Iranian expertise and implementing advanced technologies in Uzbekistan, emphasizing the importance of mutually beneficial initiatives. Opportunities for professional exchange programs, training and practical internships, and the supply of agricultural machinery were also reviewed.

Minister Abdurakhmonov noted that Iran’s extensive agricultural experience is of particular interest to Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to deepen partnership ties. He highlighted that in recent years cooperation in aquaculture has developed especially actively, supported by joint projects and the introduction of modern technologies.

In the livestock sector, Iranian practices in breed supply and breeding were highly appreciated, along with the significance of scientific and practical exchange and strengthening mutual trade.

Additionally, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in product packaging, cultivation and processing of olives, and the growth of medicinal plants.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to intensify the work of joint groups, accelerate the implementation of previously planned initiatives, and develop new projects in the identified areas.
